My Dog Has Stopped Eating

Worried because your puppy isn’t gobbling up his favorite dish like you’re used to? I know if my dog ever stopped eating, it would be a sure signal something could be wrong. Right now she tap dances on her back legs with joy as we transport her scoop of chow from its container to her bowl. Then she gobbles it up like its about to vanish then right away begins begging again.

While a loss of appetite can be a sign of something wrong, it doesn’t always. It is an area for concern. Below are some possible causes why your dog isn’t eating.

Illness. If your dog isn’t eating the amount it usually does it is often a sign of sickness. Appetite loss in dogs is typically accompanied by other symptoms simultaneously. Early veterinary attention is important because it could be a sign of major sickness, possibly including cancer, infections, dental disease, pain, liver problems, and kidney failure. If you’re worried your dog’s loss of appetite may be due to illness, read up on some of our additional articles on the possible illnesses connected with your dogs loss of appetite.

Recent vaccination. Dog vaccinations can sometimes have negative side effects. This can consist of a temporary loss of appetite in dogs.

Travel and strange environment. If your dog’s hunger level was normal until you took him on a trip or moved to a new house, it could be that your dog won’t eat because of traveling or the unusual settings. This is actually pretty common. Our dog is quite opposed to any routine change such as this, and it can take her quite a bit of time to get settled when visiting a new place. A few animals may get motion sickness, and others get nervous or unsettled in new places.

Pickiness or conduct concerns. Our dog is a huge eater, but there is a particular flavor of chow she just won’t consume. It was quite amusing observing her eat it then spit it back out when you take into account some of the other strange items shes consumed that she shouldn’t have. Some dogs are just picky, so you may need to switch to an alternative food. Another explanation for why they may not be eating is because they’re being fed in situations where they are uncomfortable, such as close to an aggressive dog or from a bowl at an uncomfortable height level.

Due to the fact that your dog’s loss of appetite may be due to an illness, don’t wait to have it checked out. If you don’t think any of the above seem like it could be the issue, and your dog is in anguish or getting sicker or weaker from lack of food, see your vet as soon as possible.

Zinc- catalyzes the superoxide dismutase anion, diminishes DNA damage

Selenium- a mineral important for prostate wellness, normal sperm development and is presently recognized as essential in female reproduction.

During the 90′s, Carnitines (amino acid-like molecules) were actually proven to be necessary for fertility, by means of improving the quality of sperm, mainly by exerting effects that safeguard the sperm membrane, scavenging free radicals which injured sperm, improving sperm energy usage, as well as boosting carnitine concentrations in the epididymis where the sperm are stored. The epididymis is the body organ where the sperm fully developed, attain the capability to swim and undergo a number of membrane transformations that permit the sperm to eventually enter and fertilize an egg cell. Fascinatingly, the epididymis has the highest amount of carnitine in the human body. A huge amount of studies have been completed on carnitine and infertility and it’s also thought that carnitine could also increase female fertility by exerting efects inside the ovary and fallopian tube.

In 1999, a patient who was an herbalist started using pycnogenol to improve his fertility situation. We monitored his results and after eight years of trying to conceive, his wife ultimately became pregnant after he consumed the pychnoginal for four months. On top of that, his sperm improved substantially. Recent studies of extracts of Pinus maritima bark (Pycnogenol), found it halts the cyclo-oxygenase molecule, cuts down prostaglandin generation and inflammatory reactions and has been demonstrated to enhance sperm morphology and sperm numbers in studies. Pychnoginol belongs to a class of natural compounds referred to as Bioflavinoids. Pycnogenol contains the potential to assist in various areas of reproduction and has also been shown to be an effective treatment alternative with regard to endometriosis.

Bioflavinoids are polyphenolic compounds that are located as the pigments in leaves, barks, rinds, seeds and flowers and also have synergistic effects with Vitamin C. They’re classified into 4 categories; PCO (proanthocyanidins), Quercitin, Cirtus bioflavinoids, and Green Tea polyphenols. Food sources contain citrus fruits, all berries, onions, parsley, legumes, green tea and red wine. They have got potent antioxidant, anti-allergy and anti-inflammatory effects and are good for several medical conditions. Bioflavinoids present terrific potential for the treatment of infertility.

Quercetin has presented effectiveness in prostatitis in men and also on the endometrium in women. Inflammation within the genitourinary tract is a recognized source of infertility because it brings about oxidative stress which leads to DNA damage. Quercetin has been proven to reduce inflammation and oxidative stress. It has also been shown to alter the endometrial condition, which is important for the implantation of the embryo and development of the fetus.

Tribulus terrestris, is an herbal compound which increases sperm motility and boosts effectiveness of the acrosome reaction (allowing the sperm to penetrate the egg.

Glutathione plays a role in protecting sperm from oxidative damage. Glutathione is really a thiol which is important in both female and male reproduction. It acts inside the fallopian tube, occurs inside follicular fluid and in addition functions inside the endometrium. It seems to play a defensive as well as supporting role for the oocyte.

Tumeric, an additional herbal compound is among nature’s most potent anti-inflammatories and it is the topic of quite a few studies for its anti-cancer qualities. Due to its highly potent wound-healing properties and also high anti-oxidant capacity, it’s favorable in a fertility supplement.

A safe way to approach infertility problems includes a program of antioxidant vitamins in the correct balance and dosage. The recent recognition of the potential efficacy of high-quality fertility vitamins now provides to many who were hoping to find a nutritional approach to their problem.

Facts About Vitamin D Side Effects

Under normal circumstances and dosages, vitamin D is tolerated very well, and side effects are not common at all. Vitamin D side effects are more likely to be linked to a deficiency in the vitamin, rather than cases where an overdose was taken. However, there are some people who may be hypersensitive to the vitamin due to medical conditions.

In very rare cases, vitamin D hypersensitivity may occur, but it is normally caused by medical conditions such as hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, granulamatous TB, carcinoma and other cancers. Patients with any of the above should only consider a vitamin D supplement program in consultation with their doctor. It might be wise to undergo regular blood tests to ensure that the levels of vitamin D in the blood stay within normal range to avoid vitamin D side effects due to overdose or deficiency.

It is important to note an overdose with concurrent vitamin D side effects can never be the result of too much sunlight. Your body has a mechanism that stops the process of manufacturing vitamin D when enough for your body’s use has been manufactured. Overdosing is normally the result of supplementation, rather than ingesting vitamin D via food sources or sun exposure. Vitamin D can be stored in the body’s fat cells for up to sixty days.

Because vitamin D has primarily the function of encouraging calcium absorption, high levels of calcium in the blood, leading to excessive calcium in the intestinal tract is possible. Your internal organs can be permanently damaged by these high levels of calcium.

Other side effects of overdosing can include bone pain, fatigue, thirst, and excessive production of urine. Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting are also known vitamin D side effects. Kidney stones can also result form ingesting too much vitamin D which again leads to excessive calcium in the system.

Pregnant females should be especially careful when supplementing with vitamin D, as another side effect can be damage to the fetus, resulting in abnormalities – physical and mental – in the baby.

Most healthcare practitioners are more concerned with the vitamin D side effects as a result of a deficiency, rather than as a result of an overdose – research actually indicates that 70% of Americans, for instance, are vitamin D deficient.

Children who are vitamin D deficient are prone to rickets, which results in stunted growth and deformed long bones. There is certainly also a link between vitamin D deficiency and osteoporosis, a condition that is characterized by reduced bone density and concurrent fragility of the bone.

There seems to be a link between various diseases and sufficient vitamin D levels. Vitamin D has been linked to depression, various cancers, boosting the immune system, cardiovascular disease. It remains essential to your good health.

How to check if your vitamin D levels are sufficient? A simple blood test to measure your blood calcidiol level can show if your vitamin D levels are sufficient for optimum body function. However, ensuring that you get 15-20 minutes of sunlight three times a week should be sufficient to ensure that your body creates the vitamin D it needs. Dietary sources include cod liver oil, fatty fish species, eggs, liver and mushrooms.
