Is Your Strawberry Shortcake Toxic?

Stop the usage of Methyl Iodide for your Strawberries! Strawberries usually signify sweetness and summer, but until all of us speak up, strawberry manufacturing in California could become better identified for triggering many forms of cancer, birth defects and miscarriages. California is considering permitting the utilization of a hugely toxic chemical on strawberry fields. This affects most of us, because 90% of U.S. strawberries are grown in California. Would you take action to avoid the use of methyl iodide for strawberries?

A panel of Nobel laureates and expert researchers called methyl iodide “one of the most extremely poisonous chemicals used in manufacturing,” yet the State of California is considering allowing it to be sprayed and injected in the soil. California’s own report found that when methyl iodide is utilized, “management of human vulnerability would be problematic if not impossible” and might result in “considerable adverse impacts on public health,” including cancer, miscarriages, and brain injury to fetuses and young children. It is necessary that people take action to stop the approval of this hazardous chemical. The end result of California’s choice may prompt an Environmental Protection Agency review of methyl iodide nationally. It’s time to put our health and our children’s health ahead of the profits of the pesticide industry. They should be getting safer, healthier methods to manufacture strawberries — not allowing more toxins into the body and our surroundings. Sign the request against the use of methyl iodide on our strawberries.

Not a lot of people know, commercially produced strawberries are among the many most dangerous fruits you can consume. Straweberries that are grown commercially are very high in inorganic pesticides. Pesticides are one of the forgotten potential issues in our commercial food program. After all without doubt we all apply pesticides.

All of us work with them to control those weeds which is typically used as meds like the healing “weed” dandelion (God forbid if the world knew they were working with a poison to kill their medication and then when they get poisoned or ill from ingesting poison (crops that have been applied by pesticides) they take another prescribed poison (pharmaceutical drug) aka so-called “medicine”. No question about it though pesticide sprays are poisonous! They have linked to childhood cancers among them breast and prostate cancer, leukemia, behavioral problems, brain tumors, autism, Parkinson’s disease, liver damage amd endocrine and hormone disruption.

Hence it would be best to get all strawberries and strawberry merchandise (jam, syrup, etc) organic. We can get them frozen or fresh as well. Strawberries are perfect for you, definitely rich in Vitamin C and anti-oxidants. Reports have found that strawberries are also excellent for osteo-arthritis and help prevent cardiovascular disorder by lowering C-reactive protein which is found to a excellent indication of heart disease or its future progress. Strawberries are absolutely an organic investment decision you should make for your well being! Thanks for browsing! Helpful Advice For Those With Food Allergies

There is plenty of advice for those with food allergies available. Studies recently have indicated that a greater number of people than ever before have this medical condition. Fortunately it need not be a limiting factor in lifestyle or activities. It definitely is necessary, though, to be informed and aware of how to cope with it, and to make sure those you are in contact with also are aware of your needs.

The first place to think of managing allergens is where most of us are most often, which is home. The key here is to avoid contact between foods that are safe and those which contain substances that you are sensitive to. Both in the refrigerator and the pantry, keeping foods separate along these lines is essential. Also make sure that all pots and pans, dishes and utensils are thoroughly cleaned after being used for foods that contain allergens.

The grocery store in the second most important place for awareness and also is easier to control than other areas. There is abundant information on many items in terms of nutrition and ingredients, so closely reading labels is helpful. Make sure that processed food, such as canned and packaged goods, is not made where allergens are also present, to reduce risk of contamination. You can always call the company if this is not clearly stated on the label.

When you eat out, it is critical to communicate with both wait staff and kitchen personnel to ensure that your dishes contain nothing that you are allergic to. Also inquire about any cooking method which could result in cross contamination of foods. Increasing numbers of establishments are aware of dietary consideration and the needs of their customers, and most will be very accommodating.

Traveling with allergies can also be challenging, but advance planning will help you avoid a lot of potentially dangerous situations. If you are traveling by air, make sure the flight attendants know about your condition and that the food available on board is safe for you to eat. Often, of course, the best solution is to bring your own food and snacks so you know there is not a risk there.

When you reach your destination, there will be more decisions to be made about local restaurants. Many may have an online presence where you can see their menus as well as get contact information if you have questions about their food or its preparation. The personnel in your hotel can also be of assistance, both by recommending restaurants they are familiar with and also by making arrangements for safe dining on site or in your room.

If, in spite of your best efforts and planning, you do ingest or come in contact with allergens, you need to be prepared for this as well. Whatever remedy you require, whether antihistamine pills or an epinephrine syringe, should always be with you. If required, a letter from your doctor stating you need these medications should also be carried everywhere you might need it. Advice for those with food allergies need not be complicated. It really comes down to being vigilant and making sure others are aware of your condition.

Hemorrhoid Miracle – Causes and Symptoms of Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids are not only pain in the butt but real pain in medication. Most people with this burden avoid seeing the doctor due to some personal reasons and instead go to the over the counter medications.

Hemorrhoids are swollen veins just inside the anus. They produce pain if they come out of the anus with a bowel movement because of constriction. Once they come out, the skin around them and the veins themselves are inflamed. So the next question you might be asking is What causes hemorrhoids and their symptoms?

When there is pressure on the vein that prevents the blood flow from returning to the heart, sometimes the veins just inside the anus become swollen for they become constricted due to the large amount of stool that stays. Also, a job in which a person sits all of the time can produce hemorrhoids. Straining and sitting a long time on the toilet trying to have a bowel movement is also thought to produce hemorrhoids and diarrhea causes hemorrhoids by the same mechanism.

Increased intra abdominal pressure from heavy lifting or a chronic cough from asthma, smoking or any chronic lung disease causes hemorrhoids because the increased pressure is like straining at stool that obstructs the flow of blood through the veins that cause the swelling. Obesity can also cause an increased intra abdominal pressure just by the weight of the abdominal wall. It is associated also with hemorrhoids. Pregnancy produces swollen veins and hemorrhoids due to a moderately increased blood volume, and also because the pregnancy itself may slightly block some of the return venous blood flow from the lower pelvis and rectum. Rectoceles can also be associated with hemorrhoids when the rectal wall protrudes out of the vagina and obstructs the veins in the wall of the rectum below.

If one or more of the swollen veins becomes “scratched” by hard stool, it may cause bright red bleeding. Often this is painless bleeding and comes out in the toilet bowl water or on toilet paper. Most bright red rectal bleeding is due to hemorrhoids but there is always concern that a rectal cancer could be present. So next time consider a rectal exam by a physician to avoid even more trouble in the future.

Demystifying Prostate Vitamins

If you’ve ever had the faintest concern about your prostate and the possibility of cancer, you’ve probably turned to the internet to do some research. What you’ve immediately run into has been a confusing assortment of contradictory claims. Some articles maintain that Vitamin E will protect you. Others recommend multivitamins. Yet others, zinc or beta-carotene.

And let’s not forget the big scare of 2007, which had headlines screaming that prostate vitamins might actually increase the risk of cancer.

Which version should you trust?

Well, a little further research into the the National Cancer Institutes 2006-2007 actual study should reassure you that the media may have been doing what they do best all too often – scaremongering for the sake of a good story. A closer look at the actual study indicates there was only an increase in aggressive cancer noted when the subjects regularly took prostate vitamins in excess of the recommended dosage. Of the 1,476 men who developed cancer requiring aggressive treatment during the study, the 12% fatality rate proved to be one third higher than among the group who stuck religiously to the recommended vitamin dosage.

The Actual Study Results Tell You What Really Counts

Karla A. Lawson, who directed the study, concluded that “the relationship between multivitamin use and prostate cancer is unclear”, minimizing a connection between vitamins and early prostate cancer. However, she did amend that by documenting the suspicious rise in aggressive cancer among those males who overused supplements and vitamins.

Its tempting to start treating yourself prophylactically if your family has a history of cancer of the prostate, especially if you are no longer young. Lawsons study seems to firmly caution against this.

Those most likely to use high amounts of vitamins and multivitamins fall into two groups: men whose families show a history of prostate cancer, and men who are proactively health-conscious. The study leaves both groups with a clear warning.

Lets look at the accepted ways of maintaining health as we grow older. Nothing new and exciting here, and some healthy habits may have no effect at all whether or not you are one of the unlucky people who develop cancer ” but one habit you should stick to at all costs!

# Eat healthily

* Even if its only a walk in the morning and some simple stretches, make sure you regularly participate in some form of exercise

* Pay attention to your sleep habits – insomnia can cause a world of hurts

# Focus on the positives in life ” what you want in your life, not what you don’t want.

# And yes ” you can take prostate vitamins ” but don’t overdo it by a single capsule!

* And that last, important tip ” if you are over 50, do get your prostate gland checked out by your family physician regularly. Its a simple examination ” and it may save more than your life!

Does Your Health Insurance Need an Insurance Policy?

UnitedHealth, one of the country’s largest insurers, has introduced a new kind of policy that insures your health insurance policy. That’s something, huh? Insurance for your insurance.

The New York Times reports that UnitedHealth has named the new product Continuity. One company official stated that it is designed to allow you to keep your health insurance for the future, for a very modest premium.

Let’s list a few red flags that go up. Continuity won’t protect you against your premiums increasing as you get older. The premiums for Continuity will increase over time. You have to qualify for Continuity just like regular coverage, and you may be denied based on your health status. This won’t help you get coverage if you have a pre-existing health condition. Most states have guaranteed renewability, which means an insurer can’t cancel your policy anyway if you become sick or get injured. This coverage costs as much as 20 percent of your health insurance premium.

At first glance, it just doesn?t seem like this product is worth anything. An insurance broker interviewed by the Times admitted Continuity was of limited appeal, but it could be useful for some. For example, the broker mentioned, Continuity could be a good option for, someone who expects to work on contract for employers that offer group health insurance benefits but who anticipates gaps in that coverage.

Is Continuity really a health insurance plan? No its not, as reported in the Times article. And if not, then what’s the point? Since most states already cover what it is protecting, then apparently for most of us will there will be no need for it. Those looking for that extra bit of comfort regarding their insurance will have to decide for themselves whether Continuity is for them.
