Travel Insurance With Trip Cancellation Benefits

Filed under: General — blogadmin @ 2:27 am

To travel far and wide without a care for unforeseen mishaps is now becoming a reality. Travel insurance offers coverage for practically everything but your taxi fare back home.

There are comprehensive trip cancellation insurance policies that cover a host of contingencies like delays and missed connections, lost or delayed baggage, medical emergencies, political disturbances and so on. You can find coverage for even accidental death or dismemberment.

But, there’s an ‘if’ attached. Complete reimbursement cannot be availed for all reasons for trip cancellation -it goes strictly as per the specifications of the policy. These specified reasons would be death to one of the travelers or a death in the family, a natural calamity and so on.

However, the more expensive policies might allow you to cancel for any reason. Medical emergency or trip delays could be some of the reasons offered for cancellation. But do remember that every cause has a ceiling on its coverage – you may not be reimbursed the full amount each time.

Travel insurance with medical coverage is a good option. You get to avail associate doctors and hospitals, with full coverage of medical expenses and emergency evacuation to the nearest suitable facility. There are also cashless transaction options. An especially good option for the old and the infirm ( though the premium would be high).

Travel insurance is available for any trip at all – a luxury cruise, a trek into the Himalayas or a regular family vacation. Compare the benefits of different policies, the premiums you have to pay, before you decide which one suits your current trip the best. Several sites have a ready reckoner for your convenience.

Having made your choice, walk through the details again with an informed agent. You might learn that some travel insurance policies cover travel to a destination of more than 120 miles only, and not exceeding 30 days. The circumstances for which benefits are offered are typically those that you cannot foresee or control like sudden illness or injury, loss of job, even jury duty.

The long and short of it is – wade through the fine print. It?s easy these days, with easy-to-read information provided by various sites. Moreover, you can specify your requirements online and get free quotes immediately.
