Radon Mitigation Hotline: (610) 489-4501. Remediation Testing Abatement PA

Filed under: Health Insurance — @ 6:48 am

http://www.Accredited-Radon.com Accredited Radon Mitigation recommends that all homes be tested for radon gas. For more information about reducing your home’s radon levels, call (610) 489-4501. /EIN News/ Some of the Eastern Pennsylvania towns affected by radon are Norristown, Havertown, Bethlehem, Aston, Kunkletown, Collegeville, Phoenixville, Easton, Wayne, Media, Lansdale, Ambler, Breinigsville, North Wales, Philadelphia, Macungie, Royersford, Elkins Park, Eagleville, and Emmaus. When radon levels are found to be 4.0 or higher, a radon removal system can be installed to fix the problem.

This is known as radon mitigation or remediation. According to the Surgeon General of the United States, radon gas is the second leading cause of lung cancer next to smoking. Pennsylvania has radon levels that are much higher than the national average which is why testing for this dangerous gas is all the more important if you live in PA. Some of the known radon hot spots are located in Montgomery, Bucks, Philadelphia, Delaware, Chester, Berks, Lancaster, Northampton County, Lehigh, Lebanon, York, Dauphin, Schuylkill, and Carbon Counties. Keep in mind, that radon problems are not exclusive to these areas. All homes should be tested regardless of location or type of construction. You cannot see, smell, or taste radon gas so the only way to know if a home has a radon problem is to conduct a test according to Thomas Hollingsworth, a certified radon specialist with Accredited Radon Mitigation. Radon test kits are available from local hardware stores, health departments, or directly from Accredited Radon Mitigation by calling (610) 489-4501 or visiting their website: http://www.Accredited-Radon.com. Radon testing is easy and inexpensive and should be a routine part of home maintenance especially in areas with known radon problems. These areas include Reading, Harrisburg, Orefield, Bethlehem, Drexel Hill, Whitehall, Wallingford, Conshohocken, Langhorne, Harleysville, Skippack, Glenside, Blue Bell, Nazareth, Easton, Scranton, King of Prussia, and surrounding PA communities. When a radon measurement in a home, office, school, or commercial building is 4.0 or higher, action should be taken to reduce the levels. Radon gas abatement (radon removal) is achieved via the installation of a ventilation system by a qualified radon reduction company. These companies are also known as radon mitigation contractors or mitigators.

A radon remediation system can be installed in most homes for under $1,000. This is a small price to pay to reduce the risk of lung cancer. More information about reducing your family’s exposure to radon gas is available at http://www.PA-Radon-Mitigation.com or by calling 1-800-61-RADON.

Do not ignore irritation in the Eye

Individuals who work in front of a computer for a long time, watch a lot of TV or movies, or do a lot of driving, or who live in a city with high air pollution, may find that their eyes become irritated and build up quite a lot of strain. Seasonal allergies, dust particles, dry or smoky environments, indoor heating or eye make-up can cause irritated and sore eyes. Common eye disorders that develop when eyes get irritated are conjunctivitis, dry-eye syndrome, blepharitis or a scratched cornea due to trauma or foreign body.

In the event of eye irritation, keep the eye clean by rinsing it frequently with water. You could also use a few drops of artificial tear drops and apply cold compresses for 20-30minutes. Please avoid, rubbing the eyes, use of eye make-up or contact lenses until the symptoms reduce.

Blepharitis refers to the inflammation of the eyelid and surrounding area. The most common symptom is the scaling of the eyelid. The eye gets red, swollen, and itchy with crusty fragments on the lids and lashes. This is one of the major causes of eye irritation.

One needs to treat blepharitis by cleaning the eyelids with diluted baby shampoo or a special cleansing ointment. Warm compresses will also help in loosening the scales or crusts in the glands.

However in case of severe pain, green or yellow mucous discharge from eye, headaches, redness worsens then visit an eye doctor.

Breast Cancer

Worldwide, breast cancer is the second most common type of cancer after lung cancer (10.4% of all cancer incidence, both sexes counted) and the fifth most common cause of cancer death. Breast cancer is about 100 times as frequent among women as among men, but survival rates are equal in both sexes.

According to the American Cancer Society, any of the following unusual changes in the breast can be a symptom of breast cancer:

  • swelling of all or part of the breast
  • skin irritation or dimpling
  • breast pain
  • nipple pain or the nipple turning inward
  • redness or thickening of the nipple or breast skin
  • a nipple discharge other than breast milk
  • a lump in the underarm area

These changes can also be signs of less serious conditions that are not cancerous, such as an infection or a cyst, however, it’s important to get any breast changes checked out promptly by a doctor. Treatment possibilities include surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and immune therapy.

The primary risk factors that have been identified are sex, age, childbearing, hormones, a high-fat diet, alcohol intake, obesity, and environmental factors such as tobacco use, radiation and shift work.

Regular exercise, weight loss, avoidance of alcohol, stressors, toxic chemicals and environmental pollutants are all helpful measures in the prevention of breast cancer. Dietary inclusion of dried beans, cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, broccoli etc), and whole grains has also proven beneficial. Brazil nuts, rich in the mineral selenium, when combined with natural vitamin E as found in almonds and walnuts are also highly effective in reducing cancer risk.

Alternate medicine: Homeopathy

Wikipedia defines Homeopathy as a form of alternative medicine that treats patients with heavily diluted preparations that are thought to cause effects similar to the symptoms presented, first expounded by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in 1796.

Homeopathy is the second most widely used system of medicine in the world. Its growth in popularity in the United States has been around 25 to 50 percent a year throughout the last decade. Most people first come to homeopathy when they feel they’ve been failed by conventional medicine. It may be for a long-held, chronic condition, or a short lived acute ailment. It may be that conventional medicine has been unable to help at all, or that the side effects are simply not worth the risk.

Homeopathic remedies (also called homeopathic) are a system of medicine based on three principles:

  • Like cures like
For example, if the symptoms of your cold are similar to poisoning by mercury, then mercury would be your homeopathic remedy.
  • Minimal Dose
The remedy is taken in an extremely dilute form; normally one part of the remedy to around 1,000,000,000,000 parts of water.
  • The Single Remedy
No matter how many symptoms are experienced, only one remedy is taken, and that remedy will be aimed at all those symptoms.

Similar principals form the basis of conventional allergy treatment, where the allergic substance is given in a small dose, and in vaccines where an impotent form of the virus is given to bolster the immune system against that particular virus.

What we always knew about Vitamins….

Vitamins can help prevent disease in two main ways: By preventing the deficiency syndromes characteristic of the respective vitamin, and through the health benefits conferred by that specific vitamin. For example, Vitamin A is important for our vision. It also plays a major role in bone growth, reproduction, cell division and cell differentiation. It helps maintain the surface linings of the eyes and the respiratory, urinary, and intestinal tracts. When those linings break down, bacteria can enter the body and cause infection.

Vitamin A also helps maintain the integrity of skin and mucous membranes that function as a barrier to bacteria and viruses. Vitamin A helps in part to regulate the immune system. The immune system helps prevent or fight off infections by making white blood cells that destroy harmful bacteria and viruses. Vitamin A appears to help lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that fights infections, function more effectively.

Your body needs calcium to build and maintain strong bones and teeth. You must absorb calcium every day from your dietary intake because your body does not and cannot make calcium. You lose calcium through shed skin, nails, hair, sweat, urine and feces. When you do not have enough calcium, your body breaks down bone to obtain this mineral. A good liquid multivitamin will provide you with the amount of calcium you need, as well as many other essential vitamins and minerals.

Bones are constantly going through a process known as remodeling in which small amounts of old bone are removed and new bone is formed in its place. Generally, after age 35, more bone is lost than gained. Bone loss accelerates after menopause and this can lead to osteoporosis.

Work depression

Ongoing stress and pressure can cause work depression. It is a reality of the fast paced work environment of today. More than $43 billion are lost each year as a result of so-called work depression. It is a rather common illness affecting 1 out of every 20 adults at any given time. Work depression affects three out of every ten workers at least once a year.

Most people see the workplace as a secure environment where they obtain some form of stability and structure. When a person struggles with symptoms of work depression, the very same place of structure can become a cage where he/she feels trapped without a means to get out.

Work depression not only affects the individual, but also colleagues, friends and family. If left untreated, it can lead to suicide, dangerous behavior, or serious mistakes that can cost the company thousands of dollars or even cause injuries. In most cases, people just resign or get fired. If treated, all of the above can be prevented. The effects on a person’s work could be seen in the form of missed deadlines, mistakes, missing meetings, arguing with colleagues, unable to handle normal workload.

If you suffer from the symptoms of work depression then you should speak to a person at work who you trust as well as to your supervisor. Inform the superior in charge about the problem and provide an action plan. The manager wants to know what you plan to do about it. Work on the problem, don’t ignore it. Working together to fight work depression, not only saves costs associated with the illness, but also increases productivity.
